FAQ

Q: How does the custom illustration process work?

A: It's so much easier than you'd think!  3 Steps: 1) Send pictures, 2) Brainstorm ideas with me, 3) Receive your illustration!  Click here to check out more on How It Works.

Q: What is the turnaround time for a custom illustration?

A: Turnaround is dependent on queue length. Typical turnaround times for custom illustrations are 3-5 weeks.  During peak seasons (April-May & Nov-Dec), turnaround times may be longer.  Feel free to email kori@motleyillustrates.com anytime for a current estimated turnaround!

Q: How does the queue work?

A: Queue numbers reflect your current place line. As I work through orders, if I need further clarification from a customer, I'll move on to the next order while I'm awaiting a reply.

Q: Will you notify me when you start on my illustration (i.s. when my order is being processed)?

A: Yes!  I'll notify you via email when I begin your illustration.

Q: Once I place my order, how much time do I have to make changes to my original order?/When is it too late to make changes to my order?

A: You can make changes to your custom illustration order up until you have been notified via email that I'm starting on your order.  Making changes to your order may affect your original quoted turnaround time.

Q: Can I cancel my order once I've placed it?

A: You are welcome to cancel your order for a full refund up until your order has been processed.

Q: Can I order products with my illustration at a later date?

A:  Absolutely!  I keep a digital file of your illustration for at least 12 months so you're welcome to place product orders after your initial custom illustration order.

Q: Do you draw eyes or hands?

A:  Your illustration will have an artistic interpretation of eyes and hands in the form of a flirty swoosh.  As well as lacking literal eyes and hands, illustrations are also void of other features such as noses and ears.

Q: Can you draw me to be skinny/curvy?

A: Illustrations are cartoon caricatures and reflect a skewed minimalistic version of the original subject.  All human subjects receive exaggerated bust to waist to hip ratios and longer than average legs, among other generalities.  If you have any special requests in regards to the accuracy of your illustration ratios, shoot me an email to kori@motleyillustrates.com or simply notate your requests in the comments section when placing your order.

Q: Can I make special requests for my illustration?

A: Certainly!  Add any special requests to the comments section when placing your order.

Q: What type of paper is the original illustration drawn on?

A: Illustrations are drawn on Strathmore Bristol 300 Series paper.  Special requested sizes may be illustrated on different stock, depending on sizing and availability.

Q: Do I need to put money down when ordering a custom illustration?

A: All illustrations purchases are handled directly through the website and require payment in full to enter the queue.

Q: Do you offer custom framing?

A: Currently, I don't offer custom framing but this is becoming a frequent request so I am definitely looking into a quality solution for add-on framing options.
